What is ISS?
Icelandic Student Services is primarily a service company for students at the University of Iceland, with the main goal of offering students at UI good service on good terms, while ensuring that the institution has a dependable operational foundation. Over many years, ISS has established and operated a variety of student services, ensuring that new agencies are founded as required to meet student needs. The Student Council and student organizations at UI are supported by publishing grants as well as other assistance from ISS. Founded by Act No. 33, 1968, Icelandic Student Services formally started work on 1 June of that year. ISS membership extends to all registered students at the University of Iceland, the University itself, and the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture. Of five representatives on the ISS board, three are appointed by the Student Council, one by UI and one by the Ministry. ISS operates the Student Career Centre, University Book Store, Student Cafes, preschools,Háma and student housing.
